Caring For Dogs
Anybody who decides to buy a dog has a responsibility to look after it. A healthy, well looked after animal doesn't need a huge amount of work. But as a dog owner, you need to be aware of your responsibilities, because quite simply, dogs can't do it themselves.
Think about how you care for yourself or the people who are close to you.
You:
keep clean,
eat,
make sure your health needs are taken care of, and
if you get sick or have an accident, you make sure they get the assistance that is needed.
If you can't do this for your dog, don't even consider getting one. And if you have one already and aren't able to care for it properly, take steps to find someone who can and will care for it properly.
Dogs do dig and roll in sand and mud, and they often get ticks and fleas, and sometimes resultant skin conditions as well. But these problems can all be controlled by regular washing, as well as by treating the affected skin with proprietary products that get rid of ticks and fleas, and medication that clears up rashes. Dogs with allergic reactions might also need special diets or supplements that help avoid these problems.
But generally caring for dogs is a fairly simple task.
Dogs can get lots of diseases, but generally they don't. If they do become off-colour and obviously ill, you'll need to call in a veterinarian, just as you would call in a doctor if you got really sick.
You first visit to the vet will be to make sure your puppy gets the required inoculations. Usually a pup will be inoculated or vaccinated before being separated from its mother, but follow-up inoculations will need to be done later. Breeders and organizations that find homes for puppies and dogs will usually supply some sort of "passport", health record card or vaccination certificate that indicates what is needed. This may also have space for a veterinary history, sterilization certificate, as well as a deworming schedule.
Regular deworming is essential because dogs can be infected by a range of internal parasites including roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. Diet is also extremely important, but today there are well balanced dog food products that are formulated to provide all the necessary vitamins and minerals a dog needs. You must just be sure to provide a proper diet at regular hours. Puppies are fed more frequently than adult dogs that usually have just two meals a day.
All dogs need somewhere clean and preferably comfortable to sleep. You will need to decide whether your dog sleeps inside or outside, although be warned that some breeds become miserable if left outdoors. Some dogs will also bark constantly if left outside, even if you provide them with a kennel. Some dogs simply won't sleep in a kennel.
Dogs also need regular exercise, and they should be groomed regularly, especially those with long coats. The environment your dog lives in will determine to a large extent whether it gets fleas or ticks. If you keep the dog clean, and use a dip or a proprietary treatment (usually applied to the back of its neck), you can control these external parasites with very little effort.
Some dogs are prone to skin conditions and you should be aware if you dog scratches a lot. If you find reddish spots, or hot spots where there is no hair and the skin seems to ooze, visit your local veterinarian and get something to treat it with.
Also check their eyes and ears regularly. Remove any discharge from eyes and if it persists, visit your vet. Dogs' ears produce wax just like ours do, and you may need to remove it. But be gentle and don't probe into the ear. A dog that scratches its ears frequently might have an ear infection of some sort, or possibly mites in the ears. Again, a vet will be able diagnose the problem and tell you what to use to get rid of it.
We clip or file our nails, and we usually have to clip dogs' nails too. The exception is when a dog has plenty of exercise on a hard surface that wears the claws away naturally. You will need specially designed clippers, available from most pet shops, to be able to clip your dog's claws. Be careful not to remove too much of the claw because if you cut into the quick, it will bleed and be painful.
As dogs get older they may need special care, for example if their eye sight begins to fail or they begin to go deaf. Remember that even old dogs need exercise, although not as much as younger animals. You should also change their diet and buy a dog food intended for old dogs.
Above all, remember that dogs need love and companionship which they will usually return a thousand fold.

The Origin and Domestication of Dogs
Dogs have been on earth for millions of years, and according to prehistoric studies, were probably first domesticated between 10 000 and 15 000 years ago. Based on archaeological findings of bones and skeletons in prehistoric middens, it seems that the dog was first domesticated in the warmer parts of Europe and Asia. But ancient remains have been found as far away from the Continent as Australia.
There are various theories about the origin of the dog. For example, some people say that the dog developed from the very wolves that they were later trained to hunt. Some say that the dog originated from wolves that interbred with jackals; while others say that the dog came from some other wild species that was neither wolf nor jackal. The most likely of these three theories is probably the first (the wolf), but there are so many different dog breeds, it is difficult to imagine how they all had the same beginnings.
It is thought that dogs were first "domesticated" and kept by man for food, rather as cattle and sheep are today. Some primitive societies still eat dogs today, so this is probably quite true. But history has shown us that generally, the value of the animal as a hunter, a guard and a draught working animal were relatively quickly recognized. Certainly it seems that dogs were the first animals to be domesticated by humankind long before cows, sheep, pigs and other now common farm animals.
But how has the dog changed with time? Not knowing exactly where it came from, it is difficult to say.
Even though most of us feed our domesticated 21st century dogs specially prepared dog food from tins or packets, if they are given the opportunity, many breeds will still hunt and most will scavenge. They are naturally carnivorous (or meat eating) animals, with teeth to match. Open a dog's mouth and you will see sharp incisors made for gripping small prey; dagger-like canines for slashing at their enemy or prey; as well as teeth they can use to slice flesh and crunch bones. There is no doubt that if a bad-tempered, badly bred domesticated dog bites you, you'll know all about it.
There are still wild dogs today, and we know that they are social animals that live in packs or in family groups. Even previously domesticated dogs that become feral (or wild) will quickly form packs and live together under one or more leaders, fending for themselves. Since dogs conform to the rules of the pack, this makes them relatively easy to train. This is also probably why so many breeds became working or hunting animals.
If courtship and mating is allowed to happen naturally among dogs, males will be attracted by the smell of a bitch that is in season or on heat (regardless of the breed). Interestingly, male dogs will always try to invite the bitch to mate, but the female won't submit until she reaches full oestrus. When it comes to giving birth, dogs, like other animals don't normally need help. They just get on with it according to instinct, just as they would in the wild.
Over the centuries various breeds of dog have been developed by humans, often for specific purposes like hunting or herding other animals. Examples include Sheepdogs and Collies that are used for herding sheep. Sheepdog trials demonstrate the great intelligence and agility of these animals. Cattle herders have included the Welsh Cardigan and Pembroke Corgis, which are little creatures that were known as "heelers", because they would nip the heels of any stragglers, forcing them onwards with the rest of the herd. However, today the only working cattle-breed in the world is the Australian Cattle Dog, an interesting looking dog that is considered a curiosity in some other countries.
In spite of all the modern inventions relating to transportation, Huskies are still used in Arctic and Antarctic regions to pull sleds. Dogs with above average intelligence are trained for police work and some are trained as guide dogs to lead the blind. This is a far cry from wild packs.
If you look at the different types of dog, you will see that today many breeds that were originally developed for working or hunting are now kept mainly as family pets. Some have become popular showing breeds worldwide, bred especially for this purpose.

Popular Dog Breeds
There are more than 100 different recognized dog breeds, some of which are more popular than others. Classification of these breeds varies in different countries, although broadly speaking most accept broad categories that include sporting breeds, hounds, working and non-working breeds, terrier breeds and toy dogs.
Sporting breeds include Pointers, Retrievers, Setters and Spaniels, all of which are popular breeds that are sometimes called gundogs, because they are trained to find and flush out game birds hunted by man.
Pointers are thought to have originated from Spain where they were bred for helping with the hunting of game birds. They literally gallop, and have an excellent sense of both sight and smell. They are well-built dogs with a high head-carriage and long, muscular neck. English, Irish and lesser-known Gordon Setters have a similar build to Pointers, but their heads are longer, with a finer skull, and their heavy coat is long. Both Golden and Labrador Retrievers are large, active dogs with large, but soft mouths and a good nose for finding game. Unlike Pointers and Setters, the Retriever will stay with its master until the bird has been shot, or until they are given the command to fetch the dead or wounded bird. Cocker Spaniels were originally bred in Britain for flushing woodcock, a game bird similar to the snipe. Nowadays they are bred mainly as family pets and for showing.
Popular hound breeds that use scent for hunting include Bloodhounds, Bassett Hounds, Foxhounds and Beagles. Those that rely on their sight for hunting include Greyhounds, Afghans, Borzois, and amazingly Dachshunds (or sausage dogs) that were originally bred in Germany as badger dogs that would go down holes after their prey.
Dogs are, by nature, hunters, and so it isnt surprising that man has, over time, developed this instinct. Most scent hounds originated thousands of years ago. For example, the Basset Hound was used in 16th century France to hunt badgers, wolves and other small animals. It is an odd-looking breed, with a long body and short, sturdy legs, as well as long, droopy ears and a soulful expression. It also makes a loving, although notoriously difficult to train, house pet. The Beagle has also been used for hunting for thousands of years, particularly in Britain. Smaller than the Bassett, but bigger than Fox Terriers and long-legged Jack Russells, Beagles are active hounds that make wonderful companion pets.
Foxhounds usually hunt with people on horseback rather than on foot, even today with drag-hunting, where they hunt a smelly bag rather than live foxes. Since hunting with the hounds is believed to date to the Middle Ages, when horsemen in Britain and Europe hunted on horseback for food, foxhounds have clearly been around for a very long time. But bloodhounds are said to be the oldest of the scent hounds, and they have, of course gained fame for tracking down human criminals.
The so-called sight hounds were originally bred for speed. Today the Afghan Hound is a popular show dog although it is still used as a guard dog and for hunting deer and wolves in its native Afghanistan. The elegant Borzoi, or Russian Wolfhound, is one of the quickest dogs on foot. This breed was originally kept in packs by Russian nobles that used to hunt wolves. It has also become a popular show dog in various parts of the world including the USA and Britain. The oldest of all the sight hounds is the Greyhound, used in Ancient Egypt to run down gazelles (a type of antelope). Greyhound racing has become big business in some countries.
Popular working breeds include St. Bernards, Boxers, Huskies and Collies, while popular non-working dogs include Bulldogs, Dalmations and Poodles.
When we talk about a working breed we mean a dog that did or does a very specific job of work, for example herding sheep (like Collies) or guarding properties or people (like German Shepherds and Dobermann Pinchers). Draught dogs (like Huskies) and guide dogs (like Labradors) are also categorized as working breeds.
There are several popular Terrier breeds including Jack Russell Terriers, Fox Terriers and Scottish Terriers. Hardy dogs originally bred to get rid of foxes, badgers, lynxes and so on, they are all quite small, sturdy dogs. Incredibly active, they make amazing, loyal pets.
Toy dogs are, of course the smallest of all, and two particularly popular breeds are the Pekingese and Chihuahua. The odd-looking Pekingese is a firm favorite and a particularly pampered creature in many countries. It originated in China in about the 8th century, making it one of the worlds oldest breeds.
The Chihuahua is the smallest dog in the world, and it originated in Mexico.
Whichever dog breed you choose, remember that the dog, unlike the cat, is happier if it does what its owner wants. This means that dogs are happier if trained to be obedient. If you train your dog well and care for it, you will be rewarded with amazing love and companionship. After all, it is true that the dog is mans best friend.

Traveling With a Dog
In recent years, traveling with a dog has become not only a common practice, but also much easier to do. More and more hotels are allowing pets in the rooms and some attractions even have a 'doggy day care' set up so that people can enjoy the sites while their pet is kept cool and content while playing with new friends.
However, just because the practice is becoming more common does not mean that there are not a few 'rules' to follow when traveling with your dog as well as a bit of 'doggy etiquette' to incorporate.
The Basics of Traveling with Your Dog
No matter how or where you are traveling, before you leave with your dog there are a few things to have in place.
Doggy First Aid Kit buy a well-equipped first aid kit for dogs. If you cannot find one, ask your vet to put one together for you.
Vaccines check out what vaccines your dog currently has and make sure they are up to date. Also check the requirements for the area where you are visiting i.e. to go over the Canadian/US border, you must have proof of your dog's rabies vaccine. Make sure you have proof of vaccines with you in the car.
Food make sure you have enough to last the entire trip and some extra just in case.
Water many travelers carry bottled water for their dog to ensure there are no upset stomachs to ruin the trip.
Medication always ensure you take enough of your dog's medication with you on a trip and that it is well identified if you are going through any borders.
Bedding most dogs prefer settling down at night in their own beds. If you have the room, bring your dog's bed with you you will both sleep better in the long run.
Check with the dog laws in the area you will be visiting. Some states and provinces require dogs to be securely contained in a car so either crate your dog or purchase a comfortable seat belt harness before you leave home. Leash laws and pooper scooping laws also vary from area to area.
Doggy identification last but most important, always ensure your dog is identified. Make sure his collar cannot slip off, make sure his tags are legible and that your cell phone number is on the tags. Many dogs are lost each year while traveling and in a strange area, it can be difficult to find where a stray dog is taken for processing. Give the authorities a break and help them to find you!
Road Trips with a Dog
A dog is the quintessential companion for a road trip. Most dogs love car rides, love to explore, offer companionship and security to their people, and never complain about the music you play or your singing no matter how out of tune or tone deaf you are!
Dog friendly hotels and motels are becoming more and more common. Often you have to pay an extra fee to offset the cost of vacuuming up the dog hair but that is usually only an extra $10 or so. A common rule is to never leave your dog alone in the room as the barking could disturb your neighbors and take your dog far away from any entrances or pathways to do their 'business'. And always, always, always clean up after your dog!
Other doggy etiquette includes regular brushing to keep shedding to a minimum, extra towels to clean up paws or dry off after a rain shower, and a sheet to put over the bed or couch. Consider waterproof booties if it is especially mucky or cold to help keep hotels and your car clean as well as your dog's feet warm and dry.
The biggest danger to your dog on a road trip is the potential for overheating if left in the car on a warm day. Even in the shade with the windows cracked, the inside of a car can quickly reach dangerous temperatures and dogs can develop heat stroke, brain damage and even die.
When you stop for gas, pick gas stations with covers and stay to the shady side if you can. If you must stop to pick up groceries, arrange to do it first thing in the morning when the ambient temperature is not at its peak, pick a parking spot in as much shade as you can and make the grocery stop a short one if possible! If you must stop for longer, contact a local doggy daycare, kennel or veterinarian office to see if you can leave your pet in their care for a few hours. The $20 or $25 expense is worth your peace of mind!
Flying with a Dog
The biggest concern when flying with a dog is the comfort of the pet on the flight. Some airlines allow small dogs in the cabin area this is the best place for your pet to be on a plane. Short of this, the cargo area can be a comfortable alternative as long as you consider the temperature of all the places the flight might land (non-stop flights are best when traveling with a pet). Most airlines implement a heat embargo during the hot months but also consider winter temperatures when flying; cold can be just as dangerous. Add thick blankets to their bedding so they can snuggle into them for warmth if required.
A common question to vets is whether a dog should be given a sedative prior to flying. The short answer? Never! Sedatives interfere with the dog's ability to control their body temperature making it easier for them to either overheat or freeze. Although flying can be stressful for pets, never sedate them.
Traveling with a dog is a wonderful experience and well worth the added preparations to ensure a safe trip. Research the area where you are headed to find dog parks so they can stay well exercised and always stop for pee breaks every two to three hours. Offer plenty of water and bring a few toys to keep them entertained.
Enjoy your travels and the companionship of a wagging tail at every new stop!

Adopting a Dog
Adopting a dog is one of the great joys of the dog world. As the name implies, adopting a dog is not what we do when we go to a reputable breeder and purchase a puppy from the person. Adopting a dog refers to bringing a dog into your home that has had a less then fortunate life, until they met you at least. 'Less then fortunate' can mean anything from removed from an abusive home by Animal Control to a dog requiring placement by a breed rescue group because the dog's wonderful but elderly owner passed away.
Why a dog is suddenly left homeless is inconsequential in many ways the bottom line is they need a new home and are up for 'adoption' until that home is found.
Adoption Shelters and Rescue Organizations
There are thousands of groups and organizations in North America dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and re-homing pets. Most towns and cities have at least one shelter to control strays and pets that have been removed from inappropriate situations (abuse is only one such situation). Some larger towns and almost all cities will have at least one private shelter or rescue center of some sort set up to handle the overflow from the city kennel. These are often run out of a person's home and a list of foster parents who house one or two dogs at a time until a permanent or 'forever' home can be found.
For potential adopters who are looking for a specific breed of dog, there is always the option of contacting the national breed rescue organization. These organizations are usually a group of breeders of a specific breed of dog that make themselves available to shelters and all breed rescue agencies as well as owners of their specific breed who for whatever reason are no longer able to keep their dog. They will 'put the word' out to other breeders and enthusiasts that there is a dog in need of a new home. The system works amazingly fast and although dogs may need to be shipped to their new home, they are placed in pre-approved homes that are already knowledgeable about the breed and the specific dog. These groups are most effective in the case of rare or lesser known breeds where the breed community is tight and work together for the betterment of the breed.
Picking a Dog to Adopt
Choosing which dog you are going to adopt is more difficult then it sounds. Most dog lovers that walk into a shelter are immediately overwhelmed with the desire to save all the dogs and it is next to impossible to stay objective. However, you are not helping the dogs if you bring them all home or even a few. And choosing a dog because of their story or circumstances may not serve either of you well as their problems may be more then you are capable of handling.
Adopted dogs come with baggage. If the best of circumstances, they were raised by caring owners who trained them to be well-mannered and happy members of the dog world. In the worst of circumstances, well, we all know how bad some people raise their pets so there is no need to dwell on the negatives. In the case of the well-trained, happy dog, the problems you face are going to be minimal but there will be a few just the same. Learning what the dog has already been trained to do, how they were raised and adjusting to their ways can have its moments.
Take the dog that has always had a backyard to use as his or her own private washroom and refuses to 'go' on a leash. What if someone who lives in an apartment and can only take their dog outside on a leash adopts that dog? Suddenly there is a problem that needs to be overcome, quickly for the sake of the dog. Because you do not know what you are getting when you adopt a dog, little problems like this can crop up now and again.
Dogs that have come from abusive or situations of neglect have an entire cartload of baggage. Often nervous around strangers and have difficulty trusting people, these dogs require a home where they will be exposed to new people and things in a positive and supportive way. Most shelters and rescues require experienced dog people to adopt these dogs to ensure that the poor animal is not in danger of needing to be re-homed again.
Bringing Your New Adopted Dog Home
There is nothing like knowing you helped rescue a dog in need. Being intelligent, sentient beings, dogs understand when someone has helped them and they return the favor in the best way they know how tail wags and kisses.
Expect a speed bump or two along the way but remember that your new dog is trying to adjust to their new home just as much as you are trying to adjust to them. Dealing With the Loss of a Pet
Dealing with the loss of a pet is a traumatic experience that can cause a deep and grave sense of loss and grieving for adults and children alike. Although most adults realize that they will long outlive their beloved dog or cat; children do not! Young children, who have pets whether they are a fish, pony, cat, dog or lizard see and feel them as part of the family, part of their life. When they die the rock solid foundation of family is shaken at the roots for a child. Why? Because for most kids until this happens they do not realize that death is a fact a life Even worse, children are not equipped to deal with the permanence of death and it can give birth to a great deal of fear and insecurity in their life. Suddenly they are worried about their parents, siblings and extended family dying. They are fearful to leave another pet at home while at school and wonder if dying could happen to them. When you are dealing with the loss of a pet it is imperative that it be dealt with compassionately and completely to ensure that your child can grieve and release all the fears and sadness that they feel.
Many people try to hide the death from their children. For a very young child this may work. Although telling them that their dog has run away or is lost can in actuality hurt them even more and for much longer. When a pet dies, being honest is probably best. This way the child has a sense of closure and knowing and can deal with the truth of the matter. It is also important to allow the child to talk about their feelings. Have them draw a picture for their pet, say a prayer or somehow memorialize the life in a way that makes them feel special. Another thing to recognize is that certainly at some point you have scolded your child for not taking care of Fido or not leaving water. In your efforts to teach them responsibility for their pet parents unwittingly make it plausible for a child to blame themselves. They will remember that they forgot to leave water or food out and think that somehow they are to blame for the passing of their pet. They will also realize that there were probably many days where they didn't have time to play with or pay attention to their pet which will result in them feeling guilty. It is very important to discuss these aspects of pet loss with your children and ease any fears or regrets that they may have. Children need to realize that the death of their pet is not their fault.
Lots of children will react in the immediate moment with a sense of disconnect. Some may not cry or seem upset at all. Others will fall to pieces right before your eyes. Regardless of how a child acts; they should be treated the same. They should be allowed to act out their feelings one way or the other. If they seem unphased then play along with them. Some children will surprise you with their ability to remain matter of factly. Sometimes these children will only feel the loss several weeks or months later. If they are hysterical, comfort them and hold them but do not force them to stop. Basically as a parent it is important to take your cues from the child. At the same time understand that there are probably a lot of other thoughts going on in their head and although they may not voice them; they are certain to disrupt their normal behavior. Staying on the lookout and trying to remain attentive to things they say and do that might be related to the death will help you to ease them through dealing with the loss of a pet.
The other aspect touched on earlier is that often dealing with the loss of a pet is the first experience many children will have with death. They may become clingy or even revert to some younger childhood antics because deep down they are afraid that you may die as well. This is absolutely normal for children. Children may live in denial, show signs of depression and seem to lose interest in other things for a while. All of this is a routine part of the grieving process. Children will feel guilt, wish they had a chance to say good bye and feel like they are being punished. Consider the way your pet died as well. Depending on the circumstances surrounding the death a child may have very different reactions. Whether they find a pet hit by a car or know that their little friend has been sick for a while the child needs to know that the pet is no longer in pain. Describe your version of Heaven to your child and ensure them that their pet is there. Make sure they know that it is okay to still love and think about their pet as often as they life and that just because the animal has passed away does not mean that the pet no longer exists.
Many parents desperate to fix things will rush out and get a replacement pet. This is something that truly should be the child's choice. The thought of loving again may frighten a child and parents should try to wait until the child is ready to accept another animal into their heart.
Dealing with the loss of a pet is hard for everyone. Children become deeply connected to their animals and consider them friends. Unfortunately so many of the animals that parents get for children like hamsters, goldfish, rabbits or gerbils have short life spans which eventually means they will have to deal with the loss of their pet. Whatever you do; never behave like the pet was just an animal. Allow the child to bury their pet if they wish and make sure that the death is formalized in any manner they see fit. Otherwise, they will hold regrets for the rest of their life. This will entitle the child to ownership of the pet and allow them to gain closure and eventually acceptance. Depending on your spiritual beliefs it can be a good time to speak of your faith and use spiritual resources to put your child's mind at ease.
One of the beautiful things about a child is that they see all creatures as equals to them. They easily talk to dogs and the bird flying overhead and they feel absolutely understood by the animals around them. Your child has probably had many conversations with their pet and some share more with their favorite dog than they do their parents. The human bond between man and animal is extremely tight and children are no exception. Parents need to be very careful to not underestimate the relationship their child had with their animal and should always feel comfortable referring to the animal as a friend and family member. As the grieving period begins to close and a child comes in touch with just how permanent death is they will undoubtedly grow up some. Dealing with the loss of a pet can be the first indicator of just how sensitive, soulful and compassionate your child really is.

The Global Common Flu Impact - An Overview
Which of the nations would ever deny an alluring life full of good health and a germ-free environment? If a disease as common as a common flu could leave an impact in a number of ways, what could be the fate with the fatal ones? Medically known as Influenza, `common flu` is what it is popularly known as worldwide.
It is not occasional that we encounter the after-effects of outbreaks of various diseases that have formed the basis of numerous formations like the World Health Organization (WHO), etc. These establish guidelines and process them to get rid of the diseases and their effects altogether.
In spite of having known the entire biology of the causal organism of common flu, the influenza virus, the mode of its transmission and the development of vaccines, it has not been possible to eradicate them utterly. The reason behind it is the heterogeneity of the virus that is known to occur in multiple strains and constantly alter their antigenic properties by phenomena called `antigenic shift` and `antigenic drift`. Due to this, although the quarantine could be made strict to check the rapid spread, the medications and vaccinations fail to be absolutely effective and need to be formulated every year.
Considering their worldwide influence could help enlightening the general population of the losses suffered through the epidemic and pandemic outbreaks of even common diseases. In case of Influenza, the worst suffered lots are those comprising the senior citizens, children aged below 14 and susceptible population with lesser immunity usually those suffering from cancer or AIDS or those undergone a graft surgery.
Secondary complications are those that arise along with a primary disease that makes the treatment costlier and complicated. Such secondary complications of common flu are Pneumonia, autoimmune disease like Guillian-Barre syndrome and Hemorrhage that add on to the already high cost of therapy and mortality rates.
Reye`s syndrome is another such super-infection associated with influenza affecting the central nervous system that have higher incidence in cases where the affected individuals are given aspirin. The investments made in controlling the spread such as vaccinations or flu shots, medications and hospitalization have given way to considerable economic setbacks in the past.
Some of the mention worthy landmarks of the losses suffered due to influenza pandemic is the Spanish flu in 1918 with as many as 50 million deaths, the Asian flu in 1957 with 1-4 million deaths in China, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Flu in the year 1968 with over 1 million people dead. As per the record, around 10 billion dollars per year in US constitutes the loss caused by the dead as well as suffering working population that the flu gives rise to.
Apart from depending entirely upon the drugs and vaccines commercially available, it is always wiser and advisable to stay healthy by leading a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. These involve nutritious intake of food, regular work-outs, proper washing of hands, and groomed sanitary practices. With these, diseases could be kept under check at individual levels.

Determining Your Fitness Level
You made your resolution to get in shape, you have even found an exercise program that you like, but where exactly do you start? One of the first things that you should do is to find out what your current fitness level is. This is important, because you want to make sure that you increase at a healthy rate to prevent injury. There are several ways to test your fitness level.
Upper Body Strength
A great way to test upper body strength is by using the push-up. Men should use the traditional military style push-up, while women can use the bent-knee position. To perform the test, do as many push-ups as you can, and count them as you are going. The average number of push-ups is listed below:
WomenMen
Age 20-29: 17-33Age 20-29: 35-44
Age 30-39: 12-24Age 30-39: 24-34
Age 40-49: 8-19Age 40-49: 20-29
Age 50-59: 6-14Age 50-59: 15-24
Age 60+: 3-4 Age 60+: 10-19
Aerobic Activity
A great way to test your aerobic fitness level is the 12 minute test. To perform this test, warm up properly then cover as much distance as you can in 12 minutes. You may walk, run, or jog. When your 12 minutes are up, record your distance. Below are the average results for the number of miles covered:
WomenMen
Age 20-29: 1.33Age 20-29: 1.54
Age 30-39: 1.27Age 30-39: 1.49
Age 40-49: 1.21Age 40-49: 1.42
Age 50-59: 1.13Age 50-59: 1.33
Age 60+: 1.07Age 60+: 1.24
There are several other tests to check your fitness level, some of which can be performed by a trainer or physician. If your numbers are below the averages above, set your goal to the average and work towards that. When you have reached that goal, move to a higher one. Goal setting is so important when making that decision to get into shape, you do not want to make unrealistic goals, but you also want to make sure that the goals you are setting are will challenge you. Once you achieve the goal that you set, you feel incredible. Then comes the choice to set another goal or try to maintain the current level of fitness that you just achieved. Another way to help you determine your fitness goals is to find out what your body fat percentage is. You can do this a couple ways, you can go to the gym or a physician and get your body fat measured by a personal trainer or a doctor, or you can buy a body fat measure with a fat measurement guide. Body Fat measurers are simple to use and pretty accurate, and you can check your progress anytime you want. Seeing progress is so important, because it helps to motivate you to conquer your goals. Another reason why body fat measurers are great is because not everyone is trying to lose weight. If you are trying to pack on more muscle, you might not see a difference on a scale, in fact you might actually gain weight, but having a body fat monitor will you help you see that you are decreasing your body fat.

Challenges Facing Nurse Practitioners
Over the last decade, the changing demands in health care have resulted in a significant demand for Nurse Practitioners. A nurse practitioner (NP) is a nurse with a graduate degree in advanced practice nursing. The nurse practitioner has completed a nurse practitioner program in primary health care and has advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and health care management. The nurse practitioner provides wide-ranging and constant care to patients in a variety of medical settings.
There are a number of challenges facing nurse practitioners. The need for a more flexible and progressive approach to a nurse practitioner's delivery of care is a fundamental challenge. Much of the work traditionally carried out by general practitioners will need to be delegated to properly trained personnel such as nurse practitioners. This means that the ability to work with the medical profession and with other healthcare professionals is most important to the leadership challenges facing nurse practitioners. This is particularly important in poorer communities where access to a general physician is limited. Nurse practitioners in these settings will be relied on in such areas as providing medical advice, assessing illnesses and injuries, screening and categorizing patients, monitoring and care for patients with chronic illnesses, prescribing and interpreting diagnostic tests, health promotion and education, nutritional advice, breast and cervical screening
etc.
The challenges that are most significant to nurse practitioners are to make a distinction with their roles among other health professionals, and provide a service with reliable guidelines about the clinical and effectiveness of their interventions. The Nurse Practitioner degree program is specific in its objectives that includes physical assessment and screening, diagnosis, pharmacology and drug interactions; diagnostics, emotional support and counseling, referral and discharge, case management and employing research and audit to practice.
General barriers that nurse practitioners face include prescriptive abilities and regulation of practice. To be able to prescribe would allow patients to be treated quickly and effectively by nurse practitioners who have pharmacology as part of their degree program. The biggest opposition to nurse practitioners expanding roles are physician organizations. They argue that the education does not train nurse practitioners to change or enhance their practice abilities, and that nurse practitioner programs are not all the same. They say that the programs provide little clinical training.
As nurse practitioner programs spread across the country and more nurse practitioners become involved in all areas of the medical profession, there is growing demand to modify nurse practitioner programs to quell physician concerns and allow nurse practitioners to take on more responsibilities.
Nurse practitioners are committed to excellence in meeting and exceeding a quality standard of care. Throughout the world, nurse practitioners are being accepted and respected as essential healthcare providers. Academic institutions are providing quality programs that integrate medical practice and research. The issue is the lack of acceptance and recognition by medical professional associations and legislative bodies. Since health promotion and disease prevention have become a concern throughout the world, in the coming years, nurse practitioners are going to be recognized as a valuable and essential asset for the entire medical community.
About the Author:
Despite the many challenges facing nurses, there is still a great need for them and nurse practitioner jobs are highly sought-after. Other ones that are related and available are physician assistant jobs.

Whats the Best Step by Step Way to Lose Weight?
There are so many diet plans out there that it's hard to know which ones will bring you the results you're looking for. Many people fail on diets. Does that mean that all diets are bad?
No. It means that it's hard to succeed when you choose to follow the latest fad diet that isn't designed for serious, long term weight loss. Casual dieting is very popular and usually involves eating some fad food like cookies, cabbage soup or even ice cream for a certain period of time. You may lose a few pounds on these, but they'll quickly creep back on.
A step by step diet plan is for people who are serious about losing weight and want the details laid out for them to follow along. The best of these plans explain the ins and outs of why their plan works and what you need to do to be successful with the diet.
Counting Calories The best plans talk to you about calories and fat and guide you on how you can determine the exact amount of calories and fat you can eat daily. Some of these plans include number calculations for you to figure out on your own. Others include an automatic calorie counter, where you plug in your stats, and it quickly gives you the number of calories per day you should consume.
You really need to know how many calories per day you can safely consume so that you can choose foods to eat based on their calorie count. Eating too little calories will make you feel tired and sluggish. Eating too many will cause you to fail on the diet.
List of Foods There should be a list of foods that you can eat while on the diet. These foods should cover all the major food groups that you need to stay within the recommended nutritional guidelines. Going on a diet doesn't mean starving yourself, it means eating more healthy foods that have less fat content.
Easy to Follow Plan The diet plan should be easy for you to follow. It should let you know what days you're supposed to eat certain types of foods. Let you know what your cheat days are (if any), and show each phase of the diet meaning, start up, actual diet and maintenance phases.
Recipes A diet guide is worth its weight in gold if it includes recipes that you can prepare from the allowed foods. I mean, you can always find recipes online for the listed foods in most plans, but it's really convenient to have it right there at your fingertips.
Motivation What good is a diet without the proper motivation to stay on it? Not much good at all. The best plans motivate you to stick with it, because you can actually see real results happening. Losing weight on the diet plan is the best motivator in the whole world, because you know that it's working.

10 Easy Ways to Lose Weight Fast at Home
Losing weight at home is a big challenge. I mean, you're literally surrounded by oodles of food choices in supermarkets and restaurants. You'd have to be a hermit in order to avoid being tempted by fat filled snacks, sweets and meals.
So what do you do in order to reach your weight loss goal?
First of all, pick a diet plan that you feel comfortable with and that you are confident you can stick with for the duration. While fad diets promise great results, usually the pounds you lose is very short term.
Here are some easy tips you can follow:
Eat a decent breakfast - Get your body off to a good start in the morning with a healthy breakfast. You can eat a bowl of cereal with some fresh fruit slices, or a cup of yogurt with some wheat toast, etc. In order to burn calories, your body needs food energy, so make sure you eat something early.
Cut down on carbs There is lots of discussion about carbs in the diet world. Some diet plans suggest cutting out carbs altogether, but this isn't a good idea because your body needs carbs for fuel. Instead, reduce your carb intake by cutting way down on white breads and pasta.
Practice portion control The food portions on your plate should be no bigger than your fist. Resist the temptation to overfill your plate with food. Train yourself to eat one helping only. When eating out, don't feel you have to eat every drop of food on your plate. Instead, eat your portion and take home the rest.
Drink Enough Water It's important to stay hydrated while on a diet. Water is an important source of energy for your body. Water flushes out many toxins and fat molecules. Drinking more water will help reduce your appetite and help you shed pounds.
Get a Good Workout Commit to exercising at least three times a week for at least 20 minutes. Exercise is one of the fastest ways to build up muscle, which helps create enough energy to burn off that unwanted fat.
Embrace fruits and vegetables With most diets, you can eat as many fruits and vegetables as you like. Choose your favorites and include them in your meals every day. This is a healthier way to keep eating while quickly losing weight.
Throw out the junk food Go through your kitchen cupboards and throw out any tempting snack foods that will derail you from your diet goals. Potato chips, Doritos, cookies, Twinkies, candy bars, and any other empty calorie food stuff. Shed a tear if you want, but ditch it in the trash can.
Eat Slowly Instead of rushing through your meals, savor each bite and really taste your food. Rushing to finish your plate only makes you wanna go and get seconds, and even, third helpings. You'll feel a lot more satisfied after your meal when you eat slowly.
Get Plenty of Sleep Try to get as much sleep as possible. Eight hours of sleep is ideal. The point is, when you are sleep deprived, you are more likely to make bad food choices than when you're fully rested.
Eat fruit instead of sweets Replace that donut with an apple. Replace that candy bar with some fresh melon. Every time you would normally have a cookie, piece of cake or other sweet temptation. Grab some fresh fruit instead. You'll still get that sweet taste, only there won't be all those fat and calories.

Apple Cider Vinegar Diet: Is This a Weight Loss Miracle?
Among the many remedies for weight loss is an old one that has been used for centuries as a cure. Apple cider vinegar has been touted as a weight loss aid that is considered a healthier alternative to diet pills, and other forms of extreme dieting. It's inexpensive and you may already have a bottle sitting in your kitchen cabinet.
Maybe you've only thought of apple cider vinegar as an excellent condiment for salads, well, it also is touted as a natural remedy for several ailments. For our purposes, we are going to examine it's use as a benefit for losing weight.
Drinking apple cider vinegar diluted in water is a popular weight loss tonic for many people, but does it really help you lose weight? That's the real question and so far, independent scientific studies haven't been able to conclusively prove that it works. Most accounts of successful weight loss on this diet comes from word of mouth.
This popular vinegar has gotten it's miracle cure reputation because it's believed to increase metabolism and causes food to turn to energy quicker. Some people also claim that apple cider vinegar cleanses the liver and, therefore, eliminates toxins so that food can be processed through the body easier.
Boosting it's claim to fame is the revelation that ancient Egyptians also used apple cider vinegar as a weight loss cure. While this doesn't mean it's a miracle weight loss remedy, it does mean that its effects on the body have been appreciated for centuries.
It's been shown that eating apple cider vinegar during or right before a meal can prevent a person from overeating, because it causes a sensation of fullness. This information comes from the results of a small study, but it seems encouraging. More studies need to be done, though, before any real beneficial conclusions can be made.
If you're still interested in trying apple cider vinegar as a weight loss aid, there are different ways you can use it. In addition to putting it on your salad (use instead of wine vinegar), you can add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and mix in a little honey to improve the flavor. Another way is to buy apple cider vinegar tablets at the store, although these are often mixed with other substances like vitamin B6 and lecithin.
Because cider vinegar is so acidic, most recommend diluting it in water or juice before ingesting. Cider vinegar can damage your teeth, mouth and throat with regular use. Also, if you have any serious medical conditions, ask your doctor if it's safe to drink this type of vinegar to avoid any unintended negative effects on medications you may be taking.
There's some debate amongst natural remedy aficionados of the effectiveness of the clear type of apple cider vinegar normally found in local supermarkets. Some believe this clear type of vinegar has been distilled to the point of losing all it's natural health benefits. They recommend using only organic apple cider vinegar, which is darker and may have residue floating inside the bottle.
However, there is no concrete evidence that one form is better than the other for weight loss. The good news is that apple cider vinegar contains natural vitamins and minerals, as well as potassium and fiber, so you'll get some other healthy benefits from adding it to your diet.

How to Order Legal Medicine Online
In modern times, it is possible to purchase just about anything and everything over the internet. More and more people are beginning to purchase their medications over the internet. Many pharmacies are beginning to take advantage of technology by taking their businesses online. Since 2000, hundred of new online pharmacies have begun doing business over the internet business.
So how does an online pharmacy actually work? Well, internet pharmacies work the same way a regular pharmacy does. A patient will still have to consult with their doctor where they will receive a prescription for some type of medication, and then they will have to other their medication. The only difference is that when you're purchasing your medication over the internet you do not have to go out to the pharmacy and get your medication. All you have to do is order your medication and have it shipped to your door step.
Be extremely careful when purchasing medications over the internet. A legitimate online pharmacy will require you to get a prescription before purchasing a prescription drug. Be sure that the company also asked for some of your personal information and your medical history. This information will help them verify your medication prescription. It is possible to get your medication using two different methods over the internet.
The first way that you can get your prescription medication is by mailing in your prescription information. You will also need to provide more information that will help match you with your prescription including your full name, date of birth, and email address that you used when you were signing up on the online pharmacy's website.
The second way to get your prescription over the internet is to have your family doctor contact the internet pharmacy. Having your doctor contact the pharmacy is the quickest way of having your prescription medication filled. It is possible for your doctor to either call the pharmacy or fax in your prescription information to the online pharmacy. You can also request that the online pharmacy contacts your doctor. This will give the pharmacy the opportunity to verity your prescription information over the phone.
Are you filling a prescription that you were once having filled at another pharmacy? If so then you can make this process much easier by having the online pharmacy call your previous pharmacy. You previous pharmacy will be able to provide the online pharmacy with your prescription information. It is also possible to purchase insurance covered medication over the internet using an online pharmacy. It is important to make sure that your insurance company is going to cover your charges. If your insurance company does not cover the charged then you'll be forced to pay for them yourself.
There are many obvious benefits that people can take advantage of whenever they purchase medication on line. It is also important to remain extremely cautious when you purchase medication over the internet. You need to make sure that you're purchasing medications from a legitimate internet pharmacy and that what you're doing is legal. There are a lot of scammers on the internet that you need to be aware of. It is important to do some research on the company before you do business with them. Be sure to check out their credibility and their reliability.
When you do business with an online pharmacy you have to give them your personal information as well as your medical history for future reference. This information is also used to verify that you are who you say you are. You can be in a lot of danger if you give out a lot of information to the wrong people. You could put yourself at risk of having your identity stolen.
A legit online pharmacy will go to many lengths to ensure that your personal information is kept private. It is also important to make sure that the company has a declaration on the type of medications that they sell. It is important to make sure that the drugs you are purchasing have been approved by the FDA. Also check out the pricing information for the drugs.
There are a number of websites that have comparative prices for the drugs that are sold on their websites. It is extremely important to take shipping and handling costs into consider when purchasing medications over the internet. There are some medications that require special handing chargers which should be taken into consideration.

TENS: Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation For Pain Relief
This therapy can help relieve pain in a variety of different problem areas, including pain in the muscles and joints, as well as chronic pain. Those suffering from sudden, acute pain can also benefit from TENS, often in combination with exercise or other treatments.
For pain relief, TENS (an acronym that stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is effective and safe.
How Does it Work?
TENS is administered through electrical stimuli sent to specific nerves in the skin. The electrical currents used in the process are painless, and carry no side effects that have been recorded.
The currents stimulate nerve fibers in the skin's nerve endings (transcutaneous means through the skin) and warm the skin. This warmth eases stiffness and increases mobility for lower amounts of pain, and also promotes the production of hormones called endorphins. These endorphins act as natural pain killers as well.
What Equipment is Needed for TENS?
To deliver the current to the skin, the patients uses various skin patches that direct the current to a specific area of the skin. A current-generating pack called the stimulator creates the currents and then the patches direct the currents to the soft tissue in the body.
These units are portable and battery powered. A patient is able to direct his or her own pain relief with the use a stimulator by turning it on when pain relief is needed. Patients rent or purchase the units for long term use.
A physical therapist applies the patches and coordinates the strength of the receptors and currents. The therapist may also choose to deliver some kinds of surface, or topical, medications. Through a technique called iontophoresis, the electrical current assures that the medication moves into the tissue for lower levels of pain and inflammation.
What Pain Is Alleviated by Using TENS?
The technique is commonly prescribed by physicians to reduce lower back pain, arthritis pain, myofascial pain, bladder incontinence, and pain resulting from surgery.
The system is not always effective for every pain, so a trial usage is a great idea.
What Intensity of Electrical Stimulation is Effective?
The default settings for the stimulators is a comfortable amplitude, just below the threshold of pain, with the pulse width or duration between 10 and 1000 microseconds, and the pulse rate, or frequency, at 80 to 100 impulses per second when the machine is set on high.
The ideal setting for each patient has to be determined by trial and error over time. In addition to the settings on the stimulator, the patient also experiments with the location of the electrodes.
While they are often placed directly over the areas that are in pain, sometimes they are positioned over trigger points or the primary nerves in the body, and patients report pain relief that is as great or even greater relief than placing them on the painful area.
How Long Does the Pain Relief Last?
While it varies with each patient, the pain relief begins immediately upon use of the device, and lasts after it is turned off.
The average patient uses the machine for thirty minutes at a time throughout the day.

What Your Dog is Trying to Tell You
If you are a die-hard doggie fanatic, you've probably watched pup based TV shows such as National Geographic's Dog Whisperer on any given Friday night. While we average Joe pet lovers may not have the training or credentials to land us our own primetime series, we come equipped with all the inklings of a dog whisper in the making.
Want to know what your own dog is saying? Read on to decode each behavior, woof and ruff all without ever turning on the boob tube.
The Shoe Nibbler
Ok. This one is for all your femme fatales with poodles who haven't quite figured out that Jimmy Choos are not chew toys. If you've got a young pup, chewing . . . unfortunately, is just a simple step in growing up. You know, much like your own young destructive phase. Yea. You know the one. Remember those years your room was so messy you could have hidden a few cars or dead bodies on the floor and no one would have noticed?
However, if you have an old dog and the nibbling is new it could be a cry for attention. Has there been a change in your life? A new baby in the mix? A new beau who takes Fluffy's side of the sofa? Then chances are this little shoe nibbler is saying one of two things "Show me some attention!" or "Get off my sofa or else, bucko!"
The Leash Leader
Does your Great Dane drag you down the street? Feel like you're the one on the leash? When your dog takes off without you while out for a walk he's not just acting up, he's trying to tell you something. This kind of behavior says, "Our relationship is off balance." and "I'm the leader of the pack."
Wild dogs by nature run in packs with one leader. Your unruly Chow Chow has that same DNA programmed into his being. You are the leader of the pack and when your dog takes you for a leash ride, it's time to listen up and take your place as the head "pup."
The Stranger Bark
Does your furry friend growl like mad at the mailman or eagerly chase the wheels of every car that passes your place? If these animal antics are familiar to your family, than your pup is telling outsiders to be warned. "This is my family! Stay away!"
While many dogs will bark at any stranger that comes too close for comfort, some otherwise friendly dogs are an uncanny judge of character. In fact there are many true life stories that tell the tale of dogs who instinctively barked at their owners assailant days before the actual attack - some in passing on the street, others while hearing a knock at the door. When a dog is truly uneasy and weary of someone around you, he will place himself between you and that person. When you aren't sure if you're dog is showing out or going into protective mode the best thing to do is assume that it's the latter and get away as quickly as possible. It might just save your life.
The Multi-Personality Pooch
Is your puppy well behaved around strangers but behind closed doors tries to gnaw your hands or ankles? Just like us, puppies have a certain comfort level. For instance, while you might not wear sweat pants in front of your boss, you certainly don't mind vegging out the sofa with your sister.
If you have a multi-personality pooch often times his behavior is saying "I can be myself around you." And while the teeth marks on your leg might not be flattering, what they are trying to say is.
When it comes to understanding your pooch, the important thing to remember is that just like a hand-stitched quilt, no two pups are alike. The longer you know your pooch the easier it becomes to figure out what each of his moods, "voices" and actions mean. However, if you notice unusual behavior in your dog, don't be afraid to ask questions. Talk to your veterinarian. They will help you decode their unusual behaviors and get them back to feeling tail wagging wonderful in no time at all.

The Cause and Effects of the Common Flu in the World
Influenza or the common flu is commonly known as `Flu` in most parts of the world. It is infectious and is caused by a virus called RNA. It belongs to the family of Orthomyxoviridae and affects birds and mammals.
The commonest indicators of this disease are chills, sore throat, fever, muscle pains, coughing, severe headache, general weakness and discomfort. In its severe form, influenza can also cause pneumonia and this can prove to be fatal, especially for those who are young and also the elderly. Influenza can also lead to nausea which may lead to vomiting in children, though these are symptoms in case of `stomach flu` only.
As a general rule, influenza is spread by air through a patient`s coughs and sneezes, which creates aerosols holding the virus. Bird flu can also spread due to bird droppings, saliva, feces, nasal secretions or blood. A person can get infected by coming in close contact with these bodily fluids or through contact with polluted surfaces. Most infections are a result of airborne aerosols, though which form of spread is most deadly is not completely clear till now. Common flu viruses are easily inactivated using detergents, disinfectants and sunlight.
Common flu spreads all over the world as seasonal epidemics, and results in thousands of deaths annually, sometimes the figure may touch the million mark too in a pandemic year. During the 20th century itself, 3 influenza pandemics occurred and millions of people died due to it. Each of the pandemic was a result of a unique species of virus in the humans. This generally happens when a prevalent virus is transmitted to humans from some other animal.
An avian virus by the name of H5N1 did ring an alarm bell as a new flu pandemic in Asia during the 90s, but till now it hasn`t evolved as a form which can spread easily between two people. Again in April 2009 a new strain of flu has evolved that has merged genes from pig, human, and the deadly bird flu. Dubbed as `swine flu`, it popped up in Mexico, US and also some other nations.
Symptoms of influenza tend to start all of a sudden, just one or two days after catching the infection. In most cases the initial symptoms are chills and a chilly sensation, though fever is also quite common from the early period only. Many people feel so ill and weak that they have to be confined to their beds for several days, with complaints of pains and aches throughout their bodies, especially in backs and legs. Other symptoms of common flu include aches in throat and joints, feeling very cold, fatigue, irritation in eyes or watering of eyes, headache, reddening of eyes, mouth, skin, nose and throat.
According to the WHO, every year tens of millions of people catch the common flu. For most people it is just means missing one week of work but elderly people run a high risk of death due to this. The worldwide death count due to this is nearly a few hundred thousand people. Common flu can affect even perfectly healthy people and at any age. But old people, children and people with chronic medical conditions can develop complications such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinus or ear infections easily.
All over the world, common flu produces direct costs because of loss in productivity and related medical treatment, and also indirect costs due to preventative measures taken. In US alone it costs about $10 billion per year. Preventative costs can be quite high too. Worldwide governments have to spend billions of. dollars in preparation and planning for a probable avian flu pandemic in terms of drugs and vaccines along with developing disaster exercises and improving strategies on border controls.

Cayenne Pepper Diet: Positive or Negative?
Recent news has associated cayenne pepper diet with some of the more famous world personalities which made this regimen more famous than the celebrities themselves. But what is in this cayenne pepper diet anyways and how does it aid in weight loss? It is a mixture of lemon, maple syrup, a rather synthetic alternative to honey, water and the main ingredient, cayenne pepper. This concoction is said to make the drinker lose an unbelievable amount of weight in a span of only two weeks by burning off excess fat in the body. Such quick weight loss may either have a positive or negative effect in a person's body. But what can this effective diet do to one's body in a negative way? There are many benefits derived from this pepper species. Comparable to honey it can also be an effective skin medication. However, unlike honey, which is almost as effective as cayenne pepper as an alternative medicine, this hot chili pepper may have some side effects in our bodies.
Cayenne pepper is known to have the chemical compound capsaicin, a substance with a molecular structure that speeds up the body's metabolism in a satisfying rate. What must one do to achieve this? Eat nothing and drink only your pleasantly appealing cayenne pepper mixture. Although this diet is effective in so many healthful ways, exposing one's body to this rigorous therapy is hazardous in itself. Because this requires that the individual drinks only salted water in the morning and laxative tea in the evening, he or she eats nothing and is only allowed to drink water and peppermint tea, and of course, the water cayenne pepper mixture. Experts say that this regimen cleanses the body of toxins but this abrupt food withdrawal may spoil the body's natural processes. Even after ten days, when the short-term cayenne pepper diet will cease, the individual is still not required to eat anything except freshly squeezed citrus juice for three days when he or she can munch raw vegetables like a rabbit. Cayenne pepper diet may also have lethal side effects with people allergic to latex, kiwi, avocado, banana, or chestnuts. There are also drugs where it may potentially interact. People taking specific drugs or herbal ginsengs may encounter odd side effects when taking this variety at the same time.
All in all cayenne pepper is as effective as honey in the alternative medicine field though unlike honey, it is also an effective dieting mechanism, which is an exception with honey. Though there are many testimonials to the efficacy of this species in weight loss, it is always best to consult a health specialist before plunging yourself into this grueling routine, especially during long medications since certain drugs and herbs may interfere with its effects. Given the negative effects, especially the severe change in one's eating habits, it is always best to check its effects to one's body as to truly enjoy its benefits in the long run. Remember, it is always best to have a healthy body than a sexy body.

Hypnosis Stimulates Fast Weight Loss
Because most people are deeply indulged in the same old daily routine, it often leads to the health and appearance being overlooked. Making matters worse, most people cannot tell the difference between good and bad food therefore leaving them with weight gain. Unfortunately this eliminates your chances for fast weight loss.
Many people in general get excited about losing weight so they count their calories or follow a stringent diet plan. On the quest for fast weight loss many of us turn to hazardous diet pills and surgery. Although some may have success, they are still in need of a lifestyle change and must change their old ways of eating.
Although it would be nice to take a pill or have a surgery to end a lifetime of weight, its not that easy. If you are in search of fast weight loss, you should try hypnosis. Hypnosis has been in existence for many years. Hypnosis is an extremely effective tool in helping use their mind and gain control of their bodies.
Accepting that you have a weight problem is the most important step in losing weight. There are a lot of people who live in denial about this issue and expect to one day lose all of their weight magically. You can experience fast weight loss by having your subconscious mind programmed using hypnosis and begin creating the life that you longed for and desire.
If you want to achieve fast weight loss then hypnosis is the most effective way to achieve your goal. Many people underestimate the power that hypnosis has in losing weight and controlling cravings. Hypnosis helps change the way you think about food and your body reacts to your mind.
While in hypnosis, you can be given suggestions to lose your desire for bad foods such as sugar and any other inappropriate food. A suggestion can be given to make water your beverage of choice. You can also be programmed to think fast weight loss is easy, fun and something that your body really enjoys.
Through ongoing programming there is really no limit to what can be achieved. In some cases hypnotic suggestions can have a lasting effect. Suggestions have the tendency to wear off after four days. Ongoing reinforcement is the real secret to fast weight loss. This can be achieved by listening to a hypnosis CD daily.
When you are in the state of hypnosis, you will experience a deep relaxation. Thirty minutes of hypnosis is equivalent to natural sleep. This makes it easy for your mind to be programmed for fast weight loss even when you are asleep, therefore allowing your mind and body to work together and create the exact body that you dream of.
The success with hypnosis is achieved by listening to a hypnosis CD daily. Ongoing reinforcement can strengthen weak habits and completely illuminate the desire for inappropriate foods. This process will give you the will power, discipline, and self control you will need to achieve fast weight loss.
